As the guest stands in the living room, daughter reads some embarrassing letters from her childhood. As mother and daughter discuss the guest, daughter sees that the guest is smoking on the sofa and she wonders if she can smoke. Father says that she should not do that, but mother sees that it will not be a problem if she has a drink. The scene ends with father and daughter going to the kitchen to clean up.
